Captain cook first discovered Aoteroa and had told the Queen that it was safe to live on and for others to live on so she headed to Aoteroa. When the Queen got there, there were Maori chiefs and they thought that the land was theirs to own so the Queen went back to England to think of an idea. She decided to create a treaty so the all people (Maori and British) could live there. The treaty was then signed on the 6 of February 1840 and all Maori and British lived in peace.How was your Waitangi day?
