PBL 2019

How can we speak up against discrimination that's the big driving question we'll have to answer for 2019 so what we will have to do is pick a category e.g racism or sexism and go live for a day and we can pick to do a pod cast, a ted talk and much much more so that we can speak up to New Zealand and even the world and tell them that racism and other things like sexism are not right and we need to help people stop. Even in movies and T.V shows are having stereotypes witch could make your children think it is ok to say things like that so we are trying to stop this today in the world or even make New Zealand a role model to the world and say we are a country that are not racist or sexist.

Reconciliation

At St Francis of Assisi school every couple of months we go to the priests to confess our sins e.g I ask God for forgiveness because if I have been mean to my siblings or parents. So what we had to do was have our personal time with God so that we can ask for forgiveness, while we are waiting for our turn we sit in silence and think of all our sins and then after you have told the priest your sins he will tell you to do some prayers at the back of the room and have another quiet time with God.

7/8 Digi Awards

On Tuesday we will be doing the digi awards and we all had to make our own digital invitations and share them out and what I will now showcase is my very own invitation to the year 7/8 digi awards

School Values

What we think our school Values mean in my own words

Respect:

We think respect is when you show that you care about something a lot so you show respect around it or if its even your peers and you care about them you should always show respect.

Service:

We think Service is like after you respect someone you try and serve them by showing that you care e.g if someone is struggling to carry their shopping bags then you could lend a hand witch show that you are caring.

Compassion:

We think that compassion is they way that you handle other people's problems there is 4 types of ways Like pity is when you acknowledge if they are hurt or suffering, Sympathy witch is when you know that they are hurt or suffering, Empathy witch is when you can go back to a time that you know how they are feeling and then there is compassion  when you do something for the person who is suffering by helping.

Integrity:

We think that integrity is when you do something wrong in life like lying to peoples faces and then you look deep into it and you think hey I should own up and be honest so that I don't have this guilt lurking around in my head so we think integrity is when you own up about something or being honest .

At St Francis of Assisi School we had a competition to see who could make the best looking T-shirt so then when we pick the winner we will print it out and give it to the people who get awards in assembly. This is the design that I have made.

Digi Awards

At St Francis of Assisi school for PBL (Project Based Learning) we have been looking at what is greatness??? so what we have to do is a digital project about greatness, even better we got to pick our groups so I picked one of my best friends Jayden, Jayden and I have been working on a website that we can link all our things onto and we also have been working on a scratch game that we can embed into our website. Our scratch project is all about greatness so that is how the game will hit the theme of greatness. We also picked a great video and reacted on that and also reacted on a song by Freddie Mercury ( Queen ) the song is the show must go on because we thought that in the time he was writing that song he was diagnosed with an illness called aids but he didn't want to miss out on a live concert he was invited to so he went with his gut feeling and wrote a song called the show must go on witch means that even know he is ill that the show MUST go on.

Swimming Lessons@ QEll

Most years at school each class has been taken to the new QEll centre for swimming lessons. depending on how many people are going are classes are split into 3 or 4 groups so that the older kids can look after the younger kids.Most lessons go for 25 minutes so this is one of the fun things at st Francis of Assisi school
