Digi Awards

At St Francis of Assisi school for PBL (Project Based Learning) we have been looking at what is greatness??? so what we have to do is a digital project about greatness, even better we got to pick our groups so I picked one of my best friends Jayden, Jayden and I have been working on a website that we can link all our things onto and we also have been working on a scratch game that we can embed into our website. Our scratch project is all about greatness so that is how the game will hit the theme of greatness. We also picked a great video and reacted on that and also reacted on a song by Freddie Mercury ( Queen ) the song is the show must go on because we thought that in the time he was writing that song he was diagnosed with an illness called aids but he didn't want to miss out on a live concert he was invited to so he went with his gut feeling and wrote a song called the show must go on witch means that even know he is ill that the show MUST go on.

Swimming Lessons@ QEll

Most years at school each class has been taken to the new QEll centre for swimming lessons. depending on how many people are going are classes are split into 3 or 4 groups so that the older kids can look after the younger kids.Most lessons go for 25 minutes so this is one of the fun things at st Francis of Assisi school

Banqer

Banqer is a fun site that you can learn about using virtual money. If you are a teacher and you want to help teach your students about how to use money then banqer is the app for you because in our class the teachers can pay us in virtual money and we can buy things like transport witch includes cars, bikes and scooters you also have a kiwi saver on your account the options for that percent was: 1 percent, 4 percent and 8 present and for the risks there were: low risk, medium risk and high risk for my kiwi saver I picked 4 percent high risk.

St Marcellin Champagnat Biography

In France on the 20th of may 1789, St Marcellin Champagnat was born. He grew up on a farm
with his mum and dad. When Marcellin was 11 he did not like school and definitely did not like the
teachers as they were strict and abusive also when he was young a priest came up to him and
suggested to go and study being a priest and for the first couple of years he found the studying very
very hard.

Marcellin was older than all his classmates he failed his first training college for priests so he was
sent immediately home  but he was sent to an organisation because of his mum and some local
priests and sooner on he became the patron saint of teachers and education.

Marcellin Champagnat had a dream to make more boys/men follow Jesus and not become a
priest so he made a organisation called the marist brothers. Marcellin's other dream was to make
our saviour Jesus Christ known and loved.

After Marcellin founded the Marist brothers (who my dad works for) he figured out just why he called the
organisation the Marist Brothers so he looked onto the name some more and though Marist is in the
way of Mary and the brothers men that the men are the brothers of Mary,Jesus and God he wanted
us all to be apart of one family.

Finally after he told all the brothers about why he chose the name for them he told them one big
thing that could change their whole lives… first they had to change their names to something
different then what they have and second of all they were not aloud to get married or have kids
they had to put their life to god and nothing else. But in 2012 they made a decision that they were
aloud to get married and have kids but they could not get any more job and had to travel the world for
a long long time that is what my dad does but they are not call marist brothers they are called marist
lay but the brothers now can not go and get married it is only the people that would like a wife and
kids but also put their life to god .

Marcellin died of cancer on the 6st of june 1840 he was only 51 years of age when he died.
Marcellin was Canonized on the 18th of April 1999 by the pope, Pope John.I cannot see a child
without wanting to let him know how much Jesus Christ has loved him and how much he should,
in return, love the divine Savior...This is one of St Marcellin's famous quotes it has a big impact of
people's life to know and love Jesus.

I think St Marcellin Champagnat is a great person because he was always looking for the
people who don't believe in god and jesus and help them learn about Jesus and then the
non-believers know and love jesus and also St Marcellin had a dream to make boys and men
believe more in Jesus so when Marcellin dies the brothers will keep his tradition by teaching others
to love Jesus.

The Beatitudes

This year at St Francis of Assisi for R.E we have been looking at the Beatitudes. All together there is eight Beatitudes witch I will share with you now.


1:Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

2:Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted

3:Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth

4: Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied

5: Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy

6: Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God

7: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God

8: Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven

Swimming Sports

Last week on Friday at Jelly park we did our swimming sports the events that were an option to us were ...

Freestyle 25 meters or 50 meters
Backstroke 25 meters or 50 meters
Breaststroke 25 meters or 50 meters
Butterfly 50 meters

but you can only get into zones if you entered the 50 meter events so that's why I did 50 freestyle I came 3rd in , 50 backstroke witch I came 4th in and 50 meter breast stroke witch I also came 4th in so I just missed out on going to zones for 50 meters freestyle but that's OK because I did my best and at least i can cheer all my friends on at swimming sports zones
